DJ Come of Age

March 5, 2009 at 12:20 am (International Soul, Soul Music) (, , , , )

dj-coaDJ Come of Age  aka DJ CoA

Location: Germany/USA

Services Provided: dj/podcaster/music promotion

Contact Info: phone 011 49 160 917 90264

Websites: YouTube Channel & Facebook

They call me COA. The acronym which defines my outlook on this music scene, the revelation of words and action allowing for artists to be heard. It recently dawned on me that some people don’t get the gist of how I operate or really know what it all entails. I’m a dj, podcaster/vidcaster, writer, and an ever growing, ever loving fan of soulful music. The past few years I’ve connected with people from all over the globe. Social networking sites such as Facebook have allowed me to further my pursuits and broaden the scope of artist promotion. Recently, a co-worker of mine discovered my profile and, in his own words, “was blown away by all the wonderful music.” He went on to say that he had no idea that these tracks were out there and was even more ashamed to admit he didn’t know I had made them readily available.

I thought about the simplest way to explain what podcasting is, what a true “mixtape” is and why they are one of the DJ’s strongest promo tools. For the sake of pretense, let’s throw out a name we all know: Stevie Wonder!

Granted, everyone reading this note knows something about Stevie. We can all rattle off at least a couple of his songs, discuss his blindness, or how talented he is as a singer and a musician. Nothing short of genius right? Now let’s imagine if you had never heard of him. Pretend that for all his accomplishments, accolades, and decades of hit after hit, his name or music had never crossed your path. You are completely oblivious to his stellar discography and talent. Let’s go another step and pretend Mr. Wonder never signed with Motown. He was just a budding superstar who was on his own grind. The talent fully intact, songs written in the key of life, but without the backing to promote himself on a global scale. Hmmmmmmm, is he still Stevie Wonder? Sure he is, you just haven’t heard of him…yet!

My job is to introduce you to the music you haven’t yet discovered, to musicians you’ll cherish for many moons to come. We’ve done the homework for you and have made it easier for you to make their acquaintance. This seasoned approach adds value to what I do, what we do, “we” because there are others in the trenches working to enhance your music library. People like Detrel and Pam (ONUTSS–NY), Rah at SoulBeautifulInc, Nat Harris of Playvybz.com, and others.

I hope this clarifies what I do as a podcaster and DJ. Let’s continue to keep in touch. Be sure to find us and download the podcast until your heart’s content. ha ha This groove is for you.

Peace,

dj come of age
